Why It Won't Hurt
At All Care Dentistry we really do understand your fears and concerns about pain during treatment. Most of us are actually dental cowards who also HATE pain, and really HATE needles. That's why when your come to All Care Dentistry, you can be sure that we will be paying very close attention to any discomfort you may have. If you are uncomfortable, you can be sure we are too.
Knowing we will do what ever it takes to make you comfortable and pain free is the first step. After that, all you have to do is mention any difficulty you are having. We will listen to what you say and always treat you with care and compassion. We can draw on our wide array of pain management resources to make sure your dental treatment is as comfortable as it can be.
Just some of the pain management resources we can use to guarantee you will be pain free include:
Computerized Novocain - We use Compudent as our Novocain delivery system. It's a small tool that that delivers the computer measured anesthetic without the scary needle you're used to. That means no more shots. In fact, most people don't even know they are getting "numbed up." The types of remarks we get from almost all of our patients include, “That’s It?” or “What was that?” “I didn’t feel a thing,” and our favorite, “That was great!”
Anesthetics - In addition to Novocain, we can offer other anesthetics that will guarantee you will be pain free anywhere from fifteen minutes to nine hours. This will insure your comfort both during and after treatment.
Conscious Sedation - When appropriate, Nitrous Oxide( N2O2), sometimes called laughing gas, is used as a calming agent. It's an odorless gas that is combined with oxygen to reduce anxiety and offers some pain control. It is applied with a comfortable mask over your nose that allows you to breathe normally. The mild effects of the gas end immediately when the flow of gas stops, and there are no aftereffects. When used in combination with other pain management approaches, even a person with severe dental anxiety will be conscious and comfortable during dental treatment.
Sedation dentistry - When necessary, we offer anti-anxiety and sedation medications. This approach will allow you to basically sleep during your procedure. Under close supervision by the Doctor and staff, you will be given appropriate medication orally to increase relaxation and allow you to sleep. After the work is done, you will experience a little drowsiness and have almost no memory of the actual treatment. This approach is for special circumstances, it requires a detailed health history, and that you be accompanied to your appointment by a friend or family member. Special instructions will be given to you about what to do before and after your treatment.
Nurse Anesthetist-Deep Sedation/Analgesia - When required, we have a licensed nurse anesthetist on staff who can administer I.V. sedation, equivalent to operating room standards.
